What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When distributing a film the distributors have to acquire the rights to the film. There are three stages that they can do this. One is to invest into the production company. Two is buy the rights to the film after the film is made. Three if they are already part of the larger organisation, they will automatically distribute.

Because I have made a small independent film it is not going to get major global distribution. For this reason a distributor such as BBC films could possibly distribute my film

The BBC films aim is ‘’BBC Films is committed to finding and developing new talent, collaborating with some of the foremost writers and directors in the industry.”

So a distributer dedicated in finding new talent could be a perfect match

The marketing of the film is just as important as making the film. Up to 50% of the films budget can be spent just on marketing.

I think for my film the best way of getting people to know about it would be via the internet and social media. With millions and millions of people going on social media every day I think it would be the best way of getting my film out to the people.

I would also want to enter my film into film festivals such as the huge Sundance film festivals which are one of the world’s most high profile festivals.

I think that my film should be realised in the autumn/winter time of year. I believe that this is the best time for my film to be realised because of the content it contains. My film isn’t upbeat and jumpy it contains a darker undertone for suited for the time of year where is its darker a lot more of the time. I feel that comedy’s and action films are a lot more suited for the summer period. However there are risks with releasing a film at this time of year because there is a chance less people are going to be able to see it. But that is a risk I would be willing to take.
